On behalf of the Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department, I would like to thank the citizens of Beltsville, Vansville, and surrounding communities for your overwhelming support last night at the community meeting held to discuss the future of the Fire and EMS service in our area. Unfortunately, it appears that Chief Green already has her mind made up on how the County is going to proceed with the staffing and although we have been told this is temporary - I don't believe this to be factual. History has shown, that once staffing is moved, it becomes permanent. The meeting was nothing more than her effort to appease our community because she was called to the table by our political representatives. In fact, it was stated that because things "got hostile", that she will only entertain virtual meetings going forward.

We look forward to your continued support as we continue to move through this process and my commitment to you is to keep you updated - without the half truths that the Fire Chief's Office seems to be disseminating. I encourage every citizen to contact the representatives that Karen Coakley has provided to you in a previous post to support retaining the career staff at Station 31. Information will be shared as we receive it. Thank you again to our outstanding community!!
